Uniform requirements for participation in flag ceremony: To respect and honor our flag and country, girls participating in the flag ceremony should give honor by their actions and also by their apparel. For our meeting purposes, girls should wear the following to have one of the major parts in the flag ceremony:
We also recognize that during cold weather, girls with uniform shorts/skirts may choose to wear blue jeans to our weekly meetings. Please choose plain blue jeans. Embroidery, patches, etc. bring attention to oneself and are therefore not "uniform" by definition (Being the same as or consonant with another or others.) This alternative in cold weather is considered uniform.
Complete Uniform Incentive -- To honor and respect our membership in Girl Scouts, we wear uniforms. Uniforms not only bring recognition of what we are, but they take attention away from ourselves and set the tone that we are a group with a common goal. I cannot require a girl wear her uniform, I can only hope that she will choose to do so.
I'm putting my money where my heart is. Starting next week, those girls who wear complete uniform (see below for definition of complete uniform) to meetings will receive a check mark in their attendance records. At the end of the year, those who wore complete uniforms 90% or more of their time will be eligible for my treating them to a trip to Bean Town in Sierra Madre.
Complete Uniform consists of four items: Sash (or vest), pins,
uniform top and uniform bottom. See What does Uniform mean? above
for definition of uniform top and bottom.
