WHAT GOES ON PART II
         Some more things happening behind the scenes at the World-Famous KFSR. First of all, Tim Gaskill was chose as Program Director to replace Ed Schreiber. And some spanking new DJ's: Felix Contreras doing Tuesday Morning 9-12 J-A-Z-Z and another female voice doing Rock late night Sundays from 11-2. Who is she? Listen and find out. One sad note: Steph the K, the Psychedelic Femme herself, moved down to Los Angeles. Steph's Fri. 12-3 show was all energy, and Steph was one of our faves. Steph, we love you and miss you. But don't think any bad thoughts, o.k.?
         One semi-major format change: The Saturday morning Country show is being changed to Saturday Morning Jazz. Jay Fung, an actual Jazz musician, will be hosting. This raises our Jazz total to 34 hours per week
AND SPEAKING OF JAZZ

Thursday nights at the Cask and Cleaver, we're sponsoring "KFSR JAZZ NIGHT." The band is Inner Fires, and the whole thing starts at 8:00. We will be doing this thru the month of March, and maybe eve further if it is a success. Check it out.

THINGS I'VE NOTICED PART 1
OR: REACTING TO THE MEDIA
     Until a couple of weeks ago, I had no idea that KFSR was world famous. But when I saw this printed
in CMJ (a major record report geared toward college stations) it all made sense. Add that to the fact that I saw MTV semi-personality Alan Hunter refer to America's biggest twits as "John Cougar Mellencamp Uh-Huh." Alan was obviously stealing our joke . . . And hey, we were even on TV the other night. Ok, it was only Cable 4, but it was a fine little segment on their "Lifestyles" show. One thing, in the opening part of the show, the host refers to discovering us and loving the Jazz he heard that night. Hmmm. Nevertheless, kudos to Marci Ford for putting it together. . . . And speaking of Cable 4, was that really Brian (Bryan??) Jones, whom I understand does a good job introducing good music to a regressive format, on some local music show calling Judas Priest a great band? And then giving good reviews to the new Van Halen and Ozzy Osbourne albums? I hope that doesn't damage his credibility. What would Joe Strummer think??? We know what Gumby the K thinks: "A mod calling Judas Priest the best metal band is like a vegetarian calling Wendy's the best hamburger joint." Where is that bleeding beef anyway . . . The best local rock critic is Jay Mitchell in the Valley Life Review. He writes the most intelligent and interesting reviews in Fresno, and his Mockers article a few months ago was a masterpiece. Keep up the good work, Jay.
