NEW SUNDAY SCHEDULE ON KFSR

With the departure of Todd and Dan from the Early Bird Jazz to gain fame and fortune with The Directions (good luck, guys!) we figured that it was time to re-align our Sundays a bit. So here is the new schedule:

am. 6:00-8:30 Morning Music with John H. 8:30-10 Bulldog Basketball Game (a rebroadcast of a recent home game) 10:00-11:00 Public Affairs 11:00-1:00 Classical Music (new time!) pm. 1:00-4:00 Soul on Sunday (new time!) 4:00-4:15 Nuclear Freeze Show 4:15-7:00 Progressive Music 7:00-8:00 The College Concert 8:00-8:45 The Great Albums Show 8:45-2:00 Progressive Music

Don't listen for the Basketball games until Jan 8., 1984. Until then, the Morning Music show will run all the way to 10:00. HOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO
Oh, boy, kiddies, it's the time of year when lines are long and tempers are short. We at KFSR hope that you, our supporters, have a great Christmas and break all of your New Year's resolutions. Really. We also hope that Santa Claus makes it through his long, and potentially dangerous journey.

AN OPEN LETTER TO MODS:
      I suppose an accurate sign of the times might be the recent success of Quadrophenia at our local midnite movies. Long lines of would-be transvestites have been replaced with clean-cut hair and parkas. It's been a long time in coming and I'd like to think KFSR has been highly instrumental in bringing this movement to Fresno. After all, where else can one hear those incredible Two Tone sounds over the airwaves?
      Now that the Mods have made some progress in the U.S., I think a word of warning is necessary. What makes this group different from any other (whether it be the Punks, Synth-poppers, or even the Rocky Horror fanatics) is its open-mindedness and intelligence. Without these attributes, the Mod movement would be nothing more than just another fashion cult.
      In the last couple of weeks, I've been asked by several people to explain the term "Mod" to these people. At this late date, it's impossible to do so; you either know what it is, or you don't. I think the key word here is "suss." It's an acquired taste which can't be bought. The fact that so many people have become interested, and yet so few actually know what it represents is a bit scary. The problem we face is much the same as the problem the Punks faced a few years ago: Mod is becoming chic. The problem is inevitable; it's ruined the Punks and it ruined the first Mod movement. Remember, Quadrophenia is not a positive Mod statement. It is a portrayal of the original Mod movement in decline. A sad reminder that even the most noble ideals can be corrupted
      Mod is about more than just parkas and Vespas. Mod is about thinking for yourself. Mod is an attempt to make people aware that they are being taken advantage of. Mod is at attempt to make positive social changes. And if
