| My first show: 2003 |
I've spent my life as a kind of gypsy: living in nine different states
and even living in Germany off and on for about 20 years. I used to paint and draw a little bit in high school,
but I never really studied art. When I joined
the Army, I laid down pencil and brush for nearly 30 years. In July 2002, I returned to painting and had
my first solo exhibit, “30 Years without Art”, at the Upper Arlington Public Library in September 2003.
When I go through a museum, each time I walk into a new room, I glance around to see which one piece
draws my attention. Then I try to understand what sets that work of art apart from the others. I hope that, from time
to time, one of my paintings will be the one that stands out.
