Frequently Asked Questions About Injury

****How long does it take to recover from an injury?
It depends on how out-of-Balance you are as well as the habits you have in your approach
to the keyboard. Most injured people have serious problems that take months to years to
correct.

****What kind of injuries do you deal with?
I work with tendinitis, nerve problems such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Thoracic Outlet
Syndrome, neck, shoulder and back pain. Typical symptoms of nerve problems are numbing
and tingling.

****Have you had any success with dystonia (focal dystonia)?
It takes a long time and a great deal of work on the part of a student to recover from dystonia.
The two students in my studio that had dystonia stopped lessons long before they were well.
People who have dystonia are definitely out-of-Balance but also are extremely tight and held in
the body. The ability to relax needs to be learned for these individuals.

****I play a different instument than the piano. Can you help me with my injury?
I do work with other musicians including singers. Although I do not have the expertise in playing
other instruments, bringing the body into Balance makes playing any instrument easier. Also, the
Taubman ideas can be applied to any instrument.

****I live too far away to have weekly lessons. Would it help to come for only one lesson?
I have seen some people for "only one lesson" and in some cases the knowledge gained has helped.
Some people also work through video (VHS) on a monthly basis.
