United States of America

The ultimate symbol of the Boy Scouts of America is the Eagle Scout.  It is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America program and a "lifetime honor" award; once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout.  I earned my Eagle on January 11, 1962.

This is the current Eagle Scout Badge.  This has been the general design over all the years.  One of the exceptions can be seen below.  The Eagle requirements have changed over the years but the standard has always been the same.

This design was used from the mid 70's through the mid 80's.  Obviously, it did not stand the test of time.  Information about the various Eagle badges can be found on my Eagle Badge website.

My full set of ranks that I received between 1959 and 1962 are at this link.  The full set of ranks from the 70's and 80's are at this link.

New Zealand

In 1963, I was an exchange student (AFS) to New Zealand.  My New Zealand brothers were both Queen Scouts and this is the badge they would have worn.

At that time, you earned the award as a Boy Scout.  Today you would earn the Queen Scout award as a Venturer Scout.

The full set of 1963 New Zealand ranks are at this link.

Australia

About 1990, I met with some visiting Australian Scouts and acquired a Queen Scout badge from Australia.  This small patch is equivalent to the BSA Eagle Square Knot.  Both are only worn by adults earning the award as a youth.

The Queen Scout award for Venturers in Australia is the top award boys and girls there strive for.  I aquired this from a Venturer leader prior to Venture 2000 held just outside of Melbourne, Australia.

Brazil

The Escoteiro Da Patria is the highest award in what we would call Brazilian Venturers.  I was very fortunate to be able to acquire one of these rare badges when I attended the Brazil National Jamboree in January 1993.

The Lis De Ouro is the highest award in the Boy Scouts in Brazil.  The words in the scroll are SEMPRE ALERTA.  I also acquired this at the Brazil Jamboree.

Canada

The Queen's Venturer Award is the highest award in Venturers.  I acquire this badge at the 1997 Canadian National Jamboree.

The Chief Scout's Award is the highest award in the Scout program in Canada.  I also acquired this at the Canadian Jamboree.

United Kingdom

This Queen Scout award is earned in the United Kingdom Venturers.  I acquired this badge at the 1997 Canadian National Jamboree.

Austria

It is my understanding that this Saint Geroge award is the highest award in Austria.  I met some really great Austrian Scouters at Begegnung 2002 held in Zellhof, Austria.

Portugal

Portugal, like many other countries, has more than one scouting organization.  The Knight Scout is the highest award in the Catholic Scout Association of Portugal (Corpo Nacional de Escutas).  My crew at Begegnung 2002 met several really great Portuguese Scouters.

The Scout of the Country is the highest award in the Scout Association of Portugal (Associação dos Escoteiros de Portugal).

Korea

The Tiger Scout award is the highest award in Korean Boy Scouts.  This is a virtual patch for me but I have included it because of the many boys of Korean heritage I have in my troop.

The full set of Korean ranks are at this link.
