Yeah, but . . . why them?





What hooked me was their ability to frankly 
express their unique world view, as well as 
create dreamlike fantasy worlds. Naoko and
Michie are brilliant song-writers.

Most good bands can manage to put out one 
terrific album, and a really good band can 
crank out two or three before deteriorating. 
Shonen Knife made incredible, magical music, 
album after album, right up to their untimely 
demise. Only the Beatles can claim the same.

I admire Naoko's and Michie's ability to be 
completely idiosynchratic and themselves, 
without conforming to the formulas of song-
writing, as most bands do. They are genuine 
artists, no doubt about it!
