Gottfried and Anna (Priebe) Zrull arrived in Detroit, Michigan, sometime between 1879 and 1882. They had emmigrated from West Prussia, possibly from the Marienwerder area, and quite likely began the journey as “Zerull” or "Cerull", since the only "Zrulls" that can be found anywhere are descendents of theirs in America. Some of Gottfried's sons and grandsons adopted the "Srull" spelling. Check out the Surname List and let us know if you find a relative there. [1] Gottfried Zrull was born about 1812-1818 in West Prussia. He married Anna Priebe (born abt Feb 1825 in West Prussia), and had at least 6 children. Gottfried and Anna arrived in the USA between 1879 and 1882 and settled in what was then Springwells Township, in Wayne County, Michigan (Springwells was later split between Detroit and Dearborn). Gottfried found work as a day laborer in the brickyards. He was joined, over the next few years, by 6 of his children. Gottfried died 3 Feb 1889. Anna died 6 Jul 1901, and is buried in Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit. Their six known children are:

Eleanora ZRULL
Eleanora was born May 1853 in West Prussia. She married Christian PISCHKE (b. Jan 1852 in Germany) about 1875. Immigrated to Detroit in 1879 with daughter Wilhelmina. Eleanora died in Detroit, date unknown. Christian died in Detroit April 2, 1917. They had eight more children in Detroit, and the name morphed into PASCHKE and PESCHKE.
Gottliebe ZRULL
Gottliebe was born 31 Dec 1855 in West Prussia. She married August REINHOLZ (b. 8 Jan 1856 in Germany) on 22 Apr 1882 in Detroit. They had four children.
Louise Elizabeth ZRULL
Louise was born 25 Mar 1859 in West Prussia. She married August ZILZ (b. 4 Aug 1859 in Germany) on 31 Jan 1891 at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit. It was August's second marriage; he had arrived in Detroit in 1890 with his son Edward. Louise immigrated in 1882. They had four more children.
Marie ZRULL
Marie was born about May 1859. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1881, possibly with her husband, Louis (Ludwig) SCHULZ (b. Sept 1852). They had five children.
Frederick William SRULL
Frederick was born 4 Sept 1862 in West Prussia. He immigrated to Detroit in about 1882 and married Augusta KUNKEL on 14 Jan 1888 at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit. They had 11 children. Frederick died in Detroit on 12 April 1918.
Charles August ZRULL
Charles was born 12 Nov 1864 in Germany. He immigrated to Detroit in 1882. He married Auguste SMELTZER at Zion Lutheran Church on 29 Aug 1886. They had 10 children. Charles died on 10 Nov 1917, and Auguste died on 30 Sept 1930. Auguste is buried at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit.
