Two camping trips so far this year. Memorial Day and down on the farm at Birdy's. Of course, I forgot to bring the camera to the second one.
We were back to our normal weather this year -- rain followed by sun followed by rain followed by sun. Ah yeah, the good old days. Too bad these bones don't take so well to such weather anymore. And speaking of bones . . . guess what Cindy did while sneaking up on a squirrel? You'll have to ask her for the details but we recognized her immediately. Who else would that be gimping around the campgrounds? Oh yeah, show us those legs girl!
The weather did clear up long enough for us to make a bonfire. Of course, we're all getting so old that we forget how to make one so we ended up with a smoking tree instead. So, what do you do when a tree smokes too much? Fill it with corn cobs, of course! What you really had to be there for was to see the engineering that went into holding this thing up in the fire pit. Followed by some rather amazing theories of when and where things would fall once it collapsed. We're happy to report that Cindy was only slightly singed.
The next camping trip is planned for Labor Day at Afton State Park. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it but home to make a day trip. Check after Labor Day.
