The Plummer Book ---- First written in 1970, "Historical Homes of Washington County, 1821-1860" investigates the life on the frontier centers in the advent of colonists in search of freedom and cheap land lured by Stephen F. Austin. "A very important part of history is tangible creativity..the art forms, machines, and architectural designs....A visit to houses occupied by notable people of the past can present a real and vivid picture of social, psychological, and economic conditions existing in bygone periods." The book is an interesting narrative of the historical background of Washington County, supported by ample documentation and by photographs and other graphic illustrations of some eleven homes.
