Present Church - built in 1973

Friedens Church of Washington is a vigorous prosperous rural church of 312 members, 100 (32%) of which are between the ages of 25 and 49 years of age. There is , therefore, 40 to 50 children and young people participating in the educational and special services of the church on a regular basis.

The Church was founded in 1890 and worships now in a very complete building built in 1972 after a fire.

The Church is located in the confluence of the Brazos and the Navasota Rivers in Washington County and sits in the midst of horse and cattle ranches giving beautiful vistas in every direction.

It is 30 miles from Bryan/College Station with complete shopping four major health centers and Texas A&M University. Houston is 65 miles south. Two very fine smaller towns, Navasota, is only 9 miles away and Brenham 18 miles.

The Church Council, its Committees and Program Organizatiions are all self starting and conduct the affairs of the church in a timely fashion. Programs of the church include: two very active organizations of women, a full christian education system serving infants through adults The first Church - built in 1890 The second Church - built in 1911

There are a good many special worship and fellowship programs throughout the year. Outreach programs include denominational benevolences, local sharing and caring programs that are carried out on a regular basis.
