STEVE DUNCAN
OWNER/BIOLOGIST
Steve Duncan:
Avian Resources founder, Steve Duncan began raising birds in 1973. Since that time, his collection steadily increased until it became his full time profession in 1989.
In 1984, while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, Steve completed a summer internship at the International Crane Foundation (ICF) in Baraboo, Wisconsin and learned a completely new level of aviculture. Steve continues to draw on this experience in the care of his birds at Avian Resources and strongly recommends budding aviculturists to visit ICF, as it is both informative and inspirational.
Steve is actively involved in the Avicultural Society of America (ASA) as a member of the board of directors, the manager of advertising, and the chairman of ways and means. In addition, Avian Resources is a commercial sponsor of both ASA and American Federation of Aviculture (AFA).
Avian Resources:
Avian Resources currently maintains over 100 species of birds. Production focuses primarily on hand-raised parrots, however, finches, soft-bills and doves are also raised. Avian Resources’ goals are to provide quality birds, friendly and knowledgeable help for new bird owners as well as experienced aviculturists, and to inspire compassion for birds both captive and wild. In the past, Avian Resources has focused its sales on the southern California wholesale market but is now expanding the opportunity to purchase its stock to the public nation-wide.
In order to insure healthy, high quality babies that will provide life-long companionship, Avian Resources incubator hatches and hand-feeds babies from day one. Please note, due to our concern for the health and well being of our birds, we prefer to sell only fully weaned hand-fed babies.
Our stock is seasonal, and the demand is high, so contact us today to reserve your baby bird, and we will ship or deliver it as soon as it is weaned. Additionally, you may contact us at any time with questions or concerns you may have with your own birds.
