SHARPEN YOUR BIRDING SKILLS - AUDUBON SOCIETY BIRD IDENTIFICATION COURSE

Dates: Sundays, March 14th, March 21st, and 28th.

Join us on three consecutive Sundays, March 14th, March 21st, and 28th, when the ASO will again offer the popular Bird Course. Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Audubon House and consist of a classroom session of lecture and slide presentation on identifying bird species that can be expected to be seen in the tri-state area, followed by observations in the field, ending around 12:30 p.m. Our popular instructors will again be Charlie Saunders and Jay Stenger. They are skilled, friendly, eager and willing to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for enjoying birds.

You must register in advance for this course as it will be limited to 20 participants. Registration for the course is a bargain $25 for ASO members and $45 for nonmembers, which will include a membership in ASO. To be registered, please send your check, payable to A.S.O., to Audubon House, 3398 West Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, OH 45239. Call 741-7926 if you have any questions. Please register by March 8th to assist us in planning and preparing the course packets.

Binoculars are required, and a field guide will be useful to refer to in class and in the field. A light breakfast will be available prior to the start of each class, but you might want to bring a snack and drink for the field trip. Dressing in layers works well, and we go in the field unless there is torrential rain or blizzard conditions, so dress accordingly. There is parking at Audubon House or on the nearby side streets and we encourage carpooling if possible.

Come and enjoy learning in an informal, non-threatening, setting. You are welcome to come by yourself or bring a friend or two or another family member. Teens welcome if coming with an adult. We will give priority to those who have not taken the class before, however if the class is not full by March 8th and you have taken the class once, you mat call the Audubon House to check about registering. We hope you will consider this opportunity and come ready to have a great time learning more about the birds and adding to your enjoyment of them.

NEW! .....Audubon Explorers In Cincinnati

The Dan Beard Council of BSA and the Audubon Society Of Ohio are making plans to introduce a new Audubon Explorer Post dedicated to outdoor careers in conservation and wildlife.
Serious youth ages 12-18 who are interested in the outdoor sciences, especially birds and their habitat needs will be encouraged to join.
Although we are not yet taking student applications we are in need of an adult committee who are interested in working with these youth. We especially need dedicated adults with experience and knowledge of field studies in plants, animals. insects, amphibians, reptiles, photography etc. and of course birds.
If you are an interested adult and would like to help in the organization of this post, please contact Rick Lisi the post advisor at 677-1878 (RickLisi@fuse.net).
