The achievements of coal miners daughters and sons are a variety of professional occupations. Some might often believe, that this could only have been accomplished by someone born blessed or given lucky breaks. The lives and works of these individuals can reveal quite a different story -- they are people just like you.

In this listing, we focus on individuals who were educated in an independent school system set up by the U S Coal and Coke Company, Coal Division, approved and sanctioned by the Kentucky Department of Elementary & Secondary Education; known as the Lynch Independent School District. Here is a list of achievers from the hallowed halls of Lynch High School who have accomplished their dreams and the aspiration of a coal mine family. Which was to go beyond the limits of coal mining. Hopefully this list of success can motivate and educate others by serving as inspiring role models for all. The difference may well be how they went about achieving these dreams.

These individuals have placed themselves in the great walks of life: Public Service, Sports, Business and Science. This is a listing of each and in the specific area of accomplishment. A reminder, these individuals come from a coal mining community located in southeastern Kentucky's Appalachian Mountains.
