What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a process for reeducating the mind-body so that the use of the body is less interfered with. With this technique you can learn how to identify habits and tension patterns, be still in poise and move safely with efficiency, adaptability and ease.
How is it taught?
The Alexander Technique is taught hands on in private lessons. Students are guided through simple movements in order to become aware of where habit interferes with good use.
Who should have
lessons?
Athletes, dancers,
musicians, anyone who desires to improve performance and reduce the risk of
injury can benefit from learning the technique.
This method of mind-body integration teaches individuals how to change habits of poor body use, reduce tension and improve posture, coordination and breathing through conscious direction. The Technique can offer an alternative and complementary management for many medical complaints. A partial list includes: back problems, Repetitive Strain Injury, stuttering, speech training and voice loss, posture or balance problems. Applications are very subjective and personal by nature.

did not anticipate quick relief. Unexpectedly, I left that first lesson
pain free. I was sold...
