Acting:
not just for actors!
Acting is the art of presentation, the skill of combining
message with delivery in a live and collaborative way that informs, enlightens, entertains, and–sometimes–moves
an audience. The ability to present oneself, one’s ideas, or one’s proposals with confidence and poise is key
for success in life.
Teaching
by professionals
Award-winning
actors with extensive teaching backgrounds from the Actors Theater of Minnesota will provide a hands-on learning experience
for young actors from age 8 to 18. Beginner, intermediate, and college preparatory levels will be offered in either a full-day
or half-day camp. Half-day students will explore fundamentals, preparation, warm-ups, and improv. Full-day students will enjoy
additional presentations from guest performers/teachers and will develop and present a final performance piece.
Step by step
Although natural talent
can be an asset, acquiring the proficiencies of acting is no different than learning any other skill. It begins with fundamentals,
which are built upon through observation, interaction, and practice. The staff of the Actors Theater will guide students through
the steps to a successful presentation, from selecting materials to creating interpretations to polishing delivery to final
performance.
