Authors notes: Just something silly I wrote up today. Oh and I actually know someone who ate what Mac did for breakfast!

I poured a cup of coffee and sighed, I could tell that Harriet had made it. She really is a nice girl but the poor thing just cannot make a decent cup of coffee. Needing some decently strong coffee, I poured the weak stuff out and made my own. As the pot was beginning to brew, I heard Mac walk up behind me.
“Morning, Sir.”
“Mac,” I nodded. “This pot should be done soon.”
“That’s great. I’ll have just enough time to eat breakfast before the trial begins.”
That is when I noticed the smell. I was sure that I had to be mistaken but tuna fish does have a distinctive scent.
“What is that?” I asked almost dreading the answer.
“Breakfast,” she said before she took a big bite. “Is that Harriet's coffee?”
“No. I just fixed this.”
“Darn. I probably don't have time to wait for it.”
I watched in amazement as she finished up her sandwich then pulled out a large slice of chocolate cake. She ate that in short order then disappeared to get to court. I was so surprised that I just walked back into my office, only realizing then that I never did pour myself a cup of strong coffee. Tuna fish and chocolate cake, what kind of breakfast is that? The last time I heard of a woman eating fish for breakfast, it was Lt. Simms.
Oh my god. Could Mac be pregnant? She had been acting a little different lately, like she had her mind on something else and she was actually late this morning. That certainly wasn’t like her. I started to think about how she and Rabb had been getting along lately and I knew that there was tension between them but, Hell, when wasn’t there?
Maybe she just hadn’t said anything yet because she knew that I would not allow them to work together anymore. One of them would have to transfer. It should be interesting to see which one would. Both of them had a chance of being JAG some day, at least in my opinion. Rabb is a bit judgmental at times and he needs to learn to over come that. Mac, on the other hand, will have a tough time proving to the SecNav that a Marine could be the JAG but I think she could do it someday.
I guess that it might be best if I start looking for other positions for either of them. I made a few discrete phone calls to some good friends, but gave no names. I wanted to talk to Rabb and Mac first before I let anyone else know. Hell, I probably shouldn’t even have done as much as I have without confirmation but I wanted to be able to offer them a few options if necessary.
The rest of the day passed uneventfully. I was out in the bullpen though when I noticed something interesting. A woman, tall and blonde, walked into Rabb's office. I looked over to Mac and saw that she noticed it and she seemed a bit upset when Rabb said goodbye and then taking the blonde's arm, led her from the bullpen. I should have left it alone but I called Mac into my office to see if she wanted to talk.
“Mac, are you okay?”
“Yes, Sir. I’m fine,” she said a little confused as she sat down.
“Is there anything that you wanted to tell me?” I hinted.
“Well, Harm is an idiot but that is nothing new.”
“What did he do this time?” I asked.
“We were supposed to go over the case tonight but he decided that he had a better offer.”
“So what are you going to do about it?” I asked wondering if she would ever realize I wasn’t talking about what she thought I was talking about.
“I’ll just handle it myself, like usual, Sir,” she replied. Maybe she did know what I was talking about.
“Well, Mac, if you ever need to talk, just give me a call.” I suspected that she wasn't going to say anything else so I decided to let it go.
“I will, Sir. Thank you,” she smiled as she stood up. “You know the worst thing about Harm ditching me tonight?”
“What’s that?” I asked interested.
“He was going to bring dinner and now Ill have to go to the grocery store. I hate going but all I could find this morning was some bread, tuna fish and left over chocolate cake.”
“So you aren’t...” I stopped talking before I could get myself in trouble.
“I'm not what?” she asked confused.
“Nothing, Mac. Just a misunderstanding on my part. Have fun at the grocery store.”
Mac smiled again and walked out, shutting the door behind her. I chuckled to myself then focused on the work in front of me that I had neglected earlier in the day.
The end.
