Early Saturday morning

Mac’s Apartment

Mac slowly woke up, wrapped in AJ’s arms. ‘He is still asleep, he looks so peaceful while sleeping,’ she thought. ‘I can’t believe this is really happening. It must be a dream.’ She dozed off again.

The phone rang and without thinking a suddenly wide-awake AJ picked it up, "Chegwidden." He looked to the now wide-awake Mac and mouthed ‘oops’. Mac squeezed him tighter and smiled, happy that it wasn’t just a dream.

"Oh Admiral. This is Harriet. I’m sorry. I thought I dialed Mac’s number. I was just going to call her and make sure she got in okay last night. Sorry I disturbed you. I’ll talk to you later, goodbye."

"Goodbye, Harriet."

Confused, Harriet dialed again and was almost positive she had called Mac the first time, the Admiral’s number was totally different. Oh well, she thought the memory is the first thing to go.

AJ smiled and said "Five, four, three, two, one." Ring.

"Good morning, Harriet" said Sarah, causing AJ to smile.

"Good morning, Mac. How did you know it was me?"

"Lucky guess." This caused AJ to chuckle. He got up and said softly, "I’ll go make that coffee now."

"What’s up, Harriet?" she watched as AJ walked nude to the kitchen.

"Well, I just wanted to call and ask if I was out of line last night when I pointed out the mistletoe."

"No, not at all. Why think that?"

"Harm said something after you left about your mystery man and that Harm thought he was there. I just hope I didn’t cause and problems with that."

"No problems at all, Harriet."

"And, well, to be honest I had thought it was the Admiral so that’s why I did what I did. Do you forgive me?"

"There’s nothing to forgive, Harriet. I probably should thank you. You were right, by the way."

"I was? You mean my matchmaking worked?" asked Harriet in surprise.

"Yes, it worked just fine," Mac smiled. AJ walked back into the bedroom. "Well, Harriet, I have to get going. My coffee is ready. I’ll call you later. And Harriet, thanks again." Suddenly Harriet realized that she had called Mac’s number the first time.

"Talk to you later, Mac. Oh, and tell the Admiral I said good morning." She smiled as she hung up the phone. "Bud, wake up. You are never going to believe this! Buddy!"

"Well, AJ, they all know now."

"How about we call up one of them later and invite them over for dinner tonight at my place? How about 6 o’clock?"

"Sounds good to me. I’ll give Harm a call, see if I can make him stutter again." She picked up the phone and dialed with a big grin.

"Hello."

"Harm, this is Mac. Just thought I would let you know that AJ is having dinner at his house tonight, at six. You are invited as well as Bud and Harriet. Can you call them and let them know? Thanks."

"Answering machine?"

"No. I think he’s still speechless."

"That’s a first!"

"Yes but good things always come to an end."

"Not this Sarah," he promised as he kissed her, pulled back the sheets, and climbed into bed with her. After their passion was spent, he whispered to her, "I love you, Sarah." Already half asleep, Sarah just smiled and murmured, "I love you too, AJ."
