Disclaimers in part 1
They got on the plane after stopping to get
breakfast. They talked about some of the people she knew in school and the
travels that he was planning. The plane hit turbulence and Mac, not the best
flier, started to get really tense. AJ reached out and took her hand and said,
"It’s just some turbulence, Mac. It will be okay."
"Sorry, AJ. I just get a bit nervous
being on a plane sometimes."
"I’ve never seen you have a problem
before."
"You fly with Harm in the pilot seat and
then tell me if you feel the same."
AJ smiled. He lifted up the armrest between
them; then, he slid his arm around her shoulders. At first, she tensed up more,
then he started to massage her shoulders and she finally began to relax.
"Feeling better?"
"Yes, thank you, AJ. I’m sorry I’m so
jumpy. It’s just seeing everyone from school is making me really nervous and
this turbulence doesn’t help."
"Don’t worry, Mac. I understand. You
know, I think this turbulence was a good thing."
"Why?"
"Because you’re calling me AJ." She
looked into his eyes. Unconsciously, they began to lean closer to each other.
Just as they were about to kiss, the pilot announced that they were
experiencing some turbulence but it was nothing to worry about. Mac and AJ
pulled back, still looking deeply into the others eyes. They could both see the
desire but they also saw the confusion. Mac turned to look out the window as AJ
moved his arm and picked up his magazine that had been on his lap and he hadn’t
even opened yet. They sat without talking for a while when they hit another
patch of turbulence, AJ reached out and took Mac’s hand and squeezed. She
squeezed back and relaxed. She didn’t let go of his hand until they landed and
were getting off the plane.
