independent press located in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in southwest Virginia.

Unsolicited manuscripts are considered through our biennial contest, held in even-numbered
calendar years. Our editors serve as judges and only editors read manuscripts. No submission is ever

This press is named in honor of the champion thoroughbred filly Ruffian, whose
astounding beauty, unbelievable feats on the racetrack, and tragic fate haunt us to this day. She was magnificent, and she
was golden.
