EXSANGUINATE / [l-i-t-d-n-a] 'Allegory of Death'   CD   (2003, Misanthrope Studios)  $12
Each band presents it's own sonic Allegories of Death... meditations on that inevitability we all fear and at the same time are fascinated by. To set the tone Exsanguinate starts with a commanding and urgent track, flush with militaristic undercurrents in it's opening moments. From there the material evolves into something more abstract and steeped in dread with tendrils stretching into elements of clinical drone and throbbing frequencies to a more introspective ambient chaos. [l-i-t-d-n-a] rounds out the disc with their unique blend of deep tones, harsh frequencies, gentle pulses against an almost ambient feedback. Squalls, static, interjecting beats, squirming distortions and vocalizations accentuate an anxious, looming reality. [l-i-t-d-n-a] closes among fluid environmental recordings juxtaposed with clanks and pulse beats, to provide the score for a yet to be discovered altered state, one in which reason is elusive. Limited to 500.

Morthond
MORTHOND 'Paths of Desolation'  CD  (2004, Bindrune Recordings  brr003)  $12
Picking up where the impressive "Somber Deathwinds" demo material left off, Paths of Desolation finds Morthond obtaining a more powerful production for this full-length debut album to further haunt all those who choose to open themselves to the experience. Obscure harmonies, uniquely twisted guitar lines and the tortured screams of Thorstadt yearn for the grave and urge the listener to follow along this depressive path. With an ideology that demands the destruction of elitist rhetoric and scenester mentality, Morthond is pure/volatile black metal for those who wish to stand alone and return to a time where this form of music was more about artistic expression than it was a fashion show. 8 tracks. Nearly 60 minutes of depressive black metal abuse

OMEI 'When All Your Ghosts Are Tired'   CD   (2006, Misanthrope Studios)  $8
Omei expresses itself through the idea of "One thought for a thousand years." The same memory played over and over until it drives you. The mind to the grindstone with nothing ahead but hours and hours of empty slow time. Two long pieces of grinding, sometimes turbulent minimalist drone and industrial from Chris of SICKNESS side project. The first track takes minimal synth loops (with additional material from James Keeler of Wilt) that slowly loop and march into a grinder of distortion to be spit out - angry and venomous. Aggressive but spent. The second track is field recordings (with additional material from Joe Colley) smashed together and blended into an atmosphere of empty warehouse sounds and abandonment. Negative and burned. Constant movement and shifting, panning and empty reverb. Limited to 500.

PAIN TEENS  'S/T'  CD (1998, Charnel House CHCD-32)  $11

Plus of course we added four bonus tracks, taken from the band's rare early cassette-only releases.
The guitarist, Scott Ayers, has released material under the name WALKING TIMEBOMBS.
The singer, Bliss Blood, has a band called THE MOONLIGHTERS.  She also sang on the fantastic 'Smoking Songs' CD by EXIT 13.

Here the noise was much louder and intense due to the insane PA we had (they had a nine foot subwoofer). Limited to 100.

Satanic Warmaster
SATANIC WARMASTER  'Strength & Honour'  CD (2007 Northern Heritage) $13
'Northern Heritage is proud to finally present the definitive reissue of possibly the single most powerful Finnish black metal album of the late 90's: "Strength and Honour". Combining the satanic aggression of early Finnish black metal with the arising militant pagan awareness, this album was instrumental in the subcultural development of Finnish (black) metal. A reissue was deemed necessary because thousands of copies have been sold in several different editions, but lacking the clarity and perfection of a definitive version. That version shall be available now.
Despite being a well-known name these days, SATANIC WARMASTER was known from it's inception as a serious and provocative project. It's musical awareness of black metal tendencies from EMPEROR to MUTIILATION and moreover, awareness of the heritage of ancient pagan traditions both in national resurgence and through the witchcraft of Satan, the adversary, with it's unconscious symbolism to modern heavy metal youth as the destructive energies in man, makes the album concrete and evil. It's possessed with a feeling that makes you think it's mere presence will turn over tombstones and set churches on fire. Halfway through this album, back in '99, this reviewer was turned from scepticism towards modern Finnish black metal, to acclaiming it's potential future existence as a radical artistic force. The truth of this prophecy has since been proved numerous times, by the same artist, and others unmentioned. Whereas SATANIC WARMASTER's demo works presented a rather different style, the spiritual root of the later works must be found in the obscure, almost secret work of BLUTRACHE, whose demo has been dug up from the archives to serve as part of the current reissue. Also the bonus track "Legion Werwolf" from S&H tape and vinyl version is included here.
The CD is remastered from the original master tape with a different vision in mind and has better dynamics and definition, yet containing the esoteric power of the original savage production. The booklet includes new artwork, all the controversial lyrics plus an expanded manifesto revealing some of the aims of the artist in originally creating this Carelian Pan-satanist manifestation and a meditation on its consequences and where he now stands in respect to it.'

SUBARACHNOID SPACE 'Delicate Membranes' CD (Charnel House CHCD-22) $12
Following their Char-Broiled Wonderland single (CHS-6), SubArachnoid Space are back with an added guitarist and more out-there modern psychedelia. Akin to Skullflower, ultra-early Sonic Youth, Fushitsusha and the like, these nine songs are journeys through another time and another space. Purely improvised, the music varies from intense feedback-driven jams to slow, drawn-out, and eerily-beautiful songs.

WERTHAM 'Anticitizen'   3"CDr   (2007, Misanthrope Studios)  $8
Man bite cop, man shoot cop, man kill cop. Four tracks of abrasive and explicit power electronics from Italy's less productive project. Violent and atmospheric sounds with angry vocals and antisocial lyrics, an homage to individuals choosing cops as targets and scapegoat for their rage. Comes in DVD case with inserts. Limited to 200.
