| The politics of austerity are realized in many different forms. Los Angeles County is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of flood control dams and debris basins. Money is scarce, and, ironically, as the number of jobs and recreational opportunities decrease, youth caught in the criminal justice system are used as cheap labor to clear the flood path. | |||||||||||||
