The human form is arguably the most difficult subject for an artist to render. Capturing a spiritual or emotional quality is even more challenging. I greatly admire those who have mastered this craft.

You’ll find a variety of artistic styles represented on this site, ranging from gesture sketches to oil paintings. I hope you enjoy viewing the artwork. I certainly enjoyed collaborating with the artists. I'm always curious about how they will interpret a pose, and what sort of composition they will conceive.

My Perspective on Artistic Nudes

The nude figure is a timeless image, without fashion clues to define the setting in a given time period. With no uniform to define the social class or employment role, nudity also represents honesty and authenticity – the naked truth – and one’s true self without any façade. Nude figures in nature can represent mankind living in harmony with the environment.

While some people associate nudity exclusively with a sexual context, I don't share this mindset. Consider the wholesomeness of Norman Rockwell skinny dipping scenes. Think of fine art nudes by Michelangelo, Auguste Rodin, and Maxfield Parrish.

The human body in its natural state can be innocent and dignified, while a clothed image can be suggestive or even vulgar, as mainstream media demonstrates on a daily basis. Of course, the opposite can be true as well. It depends on the intent, which is generally obvious.
