I've had the pleasure of collaborating with some talented figurative artists.
A variety of artistic styles are represented on this site, ranging from
gesture sketches to oil paintings. The human form is arguably the most
difficult subject for an artist to render, and capturing a spiritual or
emotional quality is even more challenging. I greatly admire those who
have mastered this skill.
My Perspective on Artistic Nudes
The nude figure is a pure and timeless representation of mankind, without
fashion clues to define the setting in a given time period. With no uniform
to define the social class or employment role, nudity also represents
honesty and authenticity – the naked truth – and one’s
true self without any façade. Nudes in nature portray mankind living
in harmony with the environment.
Consider the wholesomeness of Norman Rockwell skinny dipping scenes. Think of fine art nudes by Michelangelo,
Auguste Rodin, and Maxfield Parrish. Could anyone seriously question the dignity of The Thinker?
