I first met Ramon in 1989 while working as an artists' model in Miami.  A female model I knew said there was a photographer who wanted a male and female to pose.  We went, Ramon did his shoot and got several rolls of negatives and I signed a model release.

I was an amateur photographer and in our discussions we became friends.  I declined to be paid for the modeling session and we would often visit, or go on shoots together.  I referred him to other models and he gave me access to his professional studio for my own portfolio.

The horse came over to suggest an f-stop setting and I clicked the pic.

Couch Study by Rob Boyte 1991

By 1991, I was doing a foto project for a nudist magazine, posing everyday, non-nudist people on my couch.  Several artist friends helped me in this project, some who had used me as a model in their classes or studio work, and some who just wanted to experience the freedom of posing nude for an art project.  This foto was published in Naturally magazine.

Sharing the Studio

I first saw this model in a life drawing class at University of Miami.  She was in a reclining pose, and yet her breasts did not flatten.  I told Ramon about the young woman with the stand-up breasts and of course he was interested.  His vision was classical, and she fit the ideal of those ancient sculptures.  I was there for this shoot, as Ramon and his wife Maria Elena wrapped the young woman in black cloth to achieve the desired effect.

My shot was a more direct use of the young woman's beauty, a sort of cheesecake alluring pose.

Christmas card from Ramon & Family 1989

Child with Orb on Mother's lap

I really enjoyed receiving this card from Ramon.  The idea of a child with orb sitting on his mother's lap for a Christmas theme was a classic.  Unfortunately, Ramon said he got complaints about it.  Don't know if it was the nudity (there are numerous classical paintings of naked Jesus sucking on Mary's exposed breast) or just using a real mother and child representing the Christ.  But, I liked it and most non-traditionalist did, so Ramon felt better.

This was another model I worked with in art classes that later worked for Ramon.  I also did foto studies of this model with her child that were published in nudist magazines.

Ramon Guerrero (1946-1993)

Ramon and I were contemporaries, just a couple of years difference in age.  He was from Cuba, one of the Pedro Pan kids when he came here.  Our backgrounds differed, but we had much in common besides photography.  We shared secrets that buddies would share, and discussed much of the world events.

I left Miami in 1992 and moved to North Florida.  I last saw him during a visit to South Florida in May 1993.  After that I lost contact with Ramon, left messages on his phone machine that never got returned.  It wasn't until I returned to South Florida in 1996 and visited his house that I discovered Ramon had died in October 1993.
