My interest in botanical illustration

My first college degree was in the visual arts.  When I went to art school it was not "fashionable" to teach rigorous skills, such as drawing and the use of various materials.  They feared the would warp our creative little spirits with too much structure.

Years later when our local botanic gardens began offering a certificate in botanical illustration, I was eager to sign up and gain some of the skills I had missed the first time around. An added plus was that I am a loving but lazy gardener. Now my only problem is finding the time to practice, practice, practice.
