Road trip - Houston, Nov. 2-7, 2010

As announced at the September meeting, our Travel Coordinator, Carol Swota, is investigating a trip to the International Quilt Festival next year. Look for details in the newsletter and from Carol during our meetings - this should be a blast! and she gets to go this year to "do research."

Summer Quilt Block Project 2009

Thanks to everyone for bringing in your blocks - 108 were donated at our September meeting. Twenty-five of these will be made into a quilt and given to those raising money for a shelter for women veterans, Guardian House, in Ballston Spa. The rest will be made into other charity quilts and given to area veterans, servicemen and servicewomen, and their families.

Take a chance table collection

At the last Empire QuiltFest, Quilt North ran a "take a chance" table that was a huge hit. Folks have a chance to win fabric, notions, patterns, etc. The booth is dependent on your donations - here's a chance to pass along those items that you no longer (or never) used, fabric that just didn't appeal once you got it home, and the like. Only one more meeting to make donations - patterns, notions, fat quarters, & 1-yard lengths are all appreciated.

Help with the Empire QuiltFest Raffle quilt

Our Raffle quilt is beautiful!. This project, which Mary Albers and Jessica VanDenburgh have been organizing (and working so hard on) is done and GORGEOUS. Thanks to all who did a square and to Heidi Merrill for her beautiful quilting.

Don't forget to bring the proceeds from your ticket sales and the tickets to the September meeting.

Meeting Reminders

Meeting sign in

As we did last year, when you register at the meetings and you have your name tag, all you need to do is pull your name tab off along the perforated line on the Registration Sheet and place your name in the
basket provided to ensure that you have been placed in the nametag drawing for that particular night. If you do not have your name tag
with you, do not pull the tab, just place a checkmark next to your name.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Do not enter the church through the west or east REAR entrances until 6:45. Using these doors means you have to walk through the Fellowship Hall, which is in use by another group. If you arrive before 6:45, use the front east entrance – you will be able to sign in and enter the sanctuary, where you can wait until the back doors are opened by those doing setup. Please respect the privacy of other church users.

Show respect for our speakers and fellow members by not talking during the meeting; such conversations are an annoying distraction and makes it hard for others to hear what's being presented.

Make sure your cell phones are turned off or on vibrate/silence.

Do not bring any food or drinks into the sanctuary.

THANKS, THANKS, THANKS

Show and Tell

As in the past, we are asking that members only bring one item to Show and Tell a month. It is hoped that by limiting the number, everyone can participate, but meeting times can be managed better. Thanks for your understanding.

Sunshine and shadows

We would like to know about the joys and sorrows of our members so that we can acknowledge them. If you know a member that has suffered a loss or is in the hospital, for example, please tell Pat Picher, our corresponding secretary.

Write with any questions or to any of the persons mentioned above using the address below; messages will be forwarded on to them. Thanks.
