Windsor Trail .5 Miles

Windsor Trail, cut several years ago, handily links Minor Trail to Judges Hill Trail. Shaw and Bates Roads provide the same link but without Windsor's sanctuary from snowmobiles. Before Windsor, skiers touring Judges Hill Trail from Shaw Road had no option but to climb the hill, a piece of work, or reverse direction. Now it is possible to turn off on Windsor Trail just before the climb begins and plot various loops with Minor as one leg. Judges Hill Trail to Minor over Windsor Trail is still uphill but only modestly so; the way is pretty and the sense of wildness pervasive. Not long ago, a moose was observed making its way down slope from Windsor Trail, heading, perhaps, for the beaver pond down below on Shaw Brook.
