Whitestone Trail 1.8 Miles

"Leisurely" best describes Whitestone. Devoid of any real downhill (or genuine climb), Whitestone offers largely carefree touring.

It nominally begins within the confines of Circuit Trail, at Spruce Hill Trail, but a more likely start is from its crossing with Circuit Trail itself. Whitestone leads north from here, approaches close to Shaw Road (as the roar of any passing snowmobile makes clear), and then bends south and east for a long, flat run until it crosses Minor Trail and continues into the woods above Sawmill Field. The scenery pleases and the route is long enough to make it worthwhile.

In the section above Sawmill Field Whitestone crosses a loop groomed for skating skiers.

Whitestone ends at Bumpus Trail, finishing at last with a bit of pitch. To ski Bumpus toward Shaw Road, turn left and heed the "CAUTION" sign some yards in. A right turn brings you to the low corner of Sawmill Field. Mixed Wood Trail runs by here, too, so the options are multiple.
