Originally built in 1912 in the Victorian style, this one-time farm house has been lovingly restored and furnished. The garden surrounding the house makes sitting on the porch a pleasure. Behind the property, the springs (see the maps) which supply Little Deer Isle with water well up out of the ground and send a little, burbling stream eastwards through the back yard, tumbling over rounded rocks into the cove at the front edge of the property. Here, you'll find a private tidal beach(good for swimming)which can be easily reached by staircase. And for those of you wishing to explore the waterways, we have a
a modified canoe, 2 tandem kayaks and 2 solo kayaks (and life jackets in
assorted sizes) available for your use.
Inside, you'll find that the furnishings include modern conveniences such as a washer and a dryer and high speed internet connection for your laptop (printer and fax also available). You'll also find a TV and VCR/DVD (with an extensive collections of tapes & DVDs), a CD player, stereo and of course, telephones and an answering machine. The three original bedrooms can accommodate up to six (two with queen-sized beds and one bedroom with two twin beds). A new master bedroom/bath on the ground floor has a queen size bed. A baby bed, high chair and security gate are available on request. There is a fully equiped kitchen (with dishwasher, microwave, food processor, expresso and drip coffee makers), a separate dining room and living room with a wood stove, as well as a roomy porch with rockers, which will give your family members the space they need-- and you need -- after a tiring day. There are toys and games for all ages or, if sitting and reading is what you like, feel free to peruse the book collection lining one of the walls of the living room.
Whether your love is strolling through gardens, stopping and listening to babbling brooks, or simply sitting by the shore, listening to the waves lap up against the beach -- you'll find doing it won't entail leaving the property. And if you do, the site's convenient location between North Deer Isle and the mainland, will quickly become apparent.
Please take some time to look through the house (and its floorplan) via the photographic walkthrough-- no need to worry about unexpected surprises when you arrive at this house. You can even leave your linens at home. All the linens you will likely need have been provided.
