4.16.05 - Wow. The club gods must be smiling on me. Little did I know when I created this page that within a week I would
see an ad in the LA Weekly announcing the return of Club Makeup the following week? Well, I went last night and I am happy
to report that the same old raunchy Makeup of days of yore has returned. The same great format, the same ideal location, the
same cast and crew with the same FANTASTIC music, performances, and raunchy, pansexual crowd. They are still debating if they
are going to make it a monthly event again, but from the looks of last night's turnout, I say it's a greenlight!

4.4.05 - Here are some remnants of the spectacular Club Makeup at the El Rey Theatre, and the legendary Club Cherry at various
locations...but Club A.D. on Highland was the best location for the ultimate Cherry experience. Club Makeup took place one
Saturday a month and wasn't just a club; it was a Hollywood event. The promoters went all out ...every event had a particular
theme, and a fantastic stage show with a house band that boasted a rotating cast of the hottest local musicians in the business.
I discovered it in May of 2001 when they presented an Andy Warhol/Factory themed show with a band who did a dandy job on the
Velvet Underground material. It was freakin' HOT and the best night out I'd had in YEARS. I was a committed Makeup devotee
until it closed in 2002. Club Cherry was like a lighter, weekly version of Makeup. Same great eclectic crowd, fabulous go-go
dancers and crazy, irreverent videos - all done to the hottest dance music and dance oldies. The magazine in the collage features
my favorite Cherry/Makeup dancer, Russell Barslou. I had the hugest crush on him and he and his dancers were a big reason
why these clubs were so popular. They were all hot, hot, HOT. When are Mr. Joseph Brooks and Mr. Bryan Rabin going to resurrect
the greatest clubs to ever bless the weekends in Hollywood?
