As I'm sure everyone that has looked at my website knows, bay is my favorite color.
When I got back into the Welsh as an adult in the '70's, most of the Welsh were grey, chestnuts and roans. Very few
blacks and even fewer true blood bays. Well, it took me 18 years to breed a bay. This wonderful stallion was born
at about 3 in the afternoon on Mother's Day. A beautiful sunny warm spring day with a light breeze, the sky as blue
as a robin's egg. I was out in the pasture (he was a few weeks early so Mom hadn't been brought up yet), watched the
whole birth, waited until he was up on his feet, picked him up and brought him into the barn. I was so excited - a bay
- not just a bay, but a true blood bay and a stud colt to boot. I was in hog heaven.
Then as he grew up I found he had the most wonderful loving temperament, awesome movement and
not too bad in the conformation department. The Bay has lived up to all of our expectations and more. He has out
produced himself and his foals are extremely athletic, pretty and just plain nice to be around.
One of his babies, Greenvale's Fred Astaire, just qualified to go to the World Pony Driving
Championships in Germany this summer of 2009!!
