My Thoughts on Painting
"My painting time has spanned
some years with exciting, and interesting adventures. Truly I enjoy the whole creating process.
Studying the usual mediums, with numerous instructors was an important time of learning to understand and
conquer. In some ways it was both challenging and somewhat mysterious!
My personal, final discovery was learning the desire to convey my emotions through art, and to focus on
my feelings for a subject. In order to portray a mood for a painting, I use my imagination when planning my
tools (colors, values, etc) for creating the kind of paintings that speak to others on an emotional level."

In Her Own Words
"My interest in Art started by drawing as a child. Also, living in Southern California,
with the beauty of my surroundings,a talented family and the fortune of studying with several Master Painters.
" Mr.Fred
Lueders, in High School, gave me encouragement. Mr. Lueders amazed his students with his quick, beautiful drawings. On
one special occasion he said to me, "Yes, the girl has perspective". Something great to hear for a sixteen year old kid.
"My
first experience in real plein aire painting was with a group of talented watercolorists in Palos Verdes, California,
working on location. I didn't do well. So much for watercolor!
"Moving on to oil painting with two painting
buddies. We went everywhere, Palm Springs, Capistrano, all over Orange County and several places in Nevada and New Mexico.....
and eventually on to New England, France, Scotland, Italy, Moorea and Tahiti, learning how to push paint around and loving
the medium.
"During that time I met Mr.Sergei Bongart and discovered through his teaching the "Spirit of art". He
was a man of few words, which were delivered in a strong Russian accent, straight-forward with honest criticism. "Use more
paint. Exaggerate your color!"
"Classes with such great masters as Sergei Bongart, Robert Brackman, Frederic
Taubes, Rex Brandt, Herman Margulies, Ben Konis, Professor Bentley Schaad (Otis Art Institute), Ken Paine, Dorothy Colles,
Thomas J. Coates, Roy Freer, Leigh Perry and Aubrey Phillips. (Classes in London, England)"
