Recent Event Highlights

·         CCBCE Graduation on May 15th—What an incredible thing it was to watch the graduating students and interns accept their certificates!  While we will greatly miss any students moving on, we are thrilled to watch and see what plans God has for them. Some will head to college, others to jobs, and some to the mission field.

·         Jason’s parents’ visit from May 10-23rd was exactly the family time we needed. Elea thoroughly enjoyed the spoiling, and Ty loved all the extra lovin’ he got. Thank you for praying for their safe travels. They had a great trip.

·         During the CCBCE staff retreat from May 24-27th God refreshed us as a staff and individuals. Jason and I needed that time of renewal more than we knew we did! Friendships were renewed, spiritual walks built up again, and it all happened at the gorgeous castle in Austria.

And We Gather Together

The Foundations Conference (June 18-23rd) for missionaries is just right around the corner and preparations are definitely under way.  This year’s conference is maxing out our building here at 350+ people, including 80+ kids! Some people are even having to stay in the town of Vajta, and some of our students will be camping out in the libraries and tents. It’s going to be a blast! Some of the main speakers include: Brian Broderson, Bil Galatin, and Bob Caldwell. A team from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa arrives on the 16th to help us with childcare.  Jason will oversee the high school student sessions, which will be a great warm-up for AVFL that arrives on the heels of this conference.

It’s Almost Time For…!

The day the Foundations Conference ends, our “A Vision for Life” students arrive (June 23rd) for six weeks. This summer we’ll have 18 students (11 girls and 7 guys).  There will be time for fun and fellowship, including weekend sightseeing trips to Budapest (July 1-2) and Vienna (July 29-30). Students will also be involved in local outreaches, and also outreaches to Estergom, Hungary (July 13-15th) and Vucovar, Croatia (July 20-22nd).  Imagine all that and they’ll also be taking classes in the mornings including Life of Jesus, Amazing Faith of Young People, Ephesians, Philippians, the End Times, Life of the Early Church & outreach workshops.  One girl wrote about last summer’s AVFL: I witnessed an example of how good God's love and grace truly is, and how by following Him my future can be brighter than I've ever imagined.  Amen! May God do that and even greater things this summer in the lives of the AVFLers!!

Prayer & Praise

  • Please pray for my twin sister, Julie, who has been battling leukemia. She just finished a final gruesome round of chemotherapy and should be on maintenance chemo soon. Thankfully, the last tests show that the leukemia is in remission, but please continue to pray that it stays in remission, that side effects of the chemo would be minimal, and that she would be greatly encouraged and strengthened.  If you’d like to get more updates on her progress, email me and I’ll let you know where she posts her web journal and updates.
  • Our staff retreat really was the time of spiritual renewal that we all needed. Praise God for the work he did within our friendships and within each of our lives. Your prayers were felt!
  • Please pray for the upcoming Foundations conference, especially this week as preparations are being made. Pray that God gives all staff an eye for detail and servants’ hearts.  Keep Jeremy Foster in your prayers as he oversees conferences and has his hands full right now with preparations.  Pray that God would meet each missionary where he’s at and that everyone would be built up and encouraged.  Also pray for safe travels and physical strength for those traveling here as guests or speakers.
  • With AVFL, pray that the students would come with hearts softened to be taught by God and that they would be built up in their faith.
  • And finally, please pray for Pastor Greg Opean, pastor of CC Budapest, and his family (wife, Jen, and kids, Aria & Caedmon) with their move back to the States and all the wonderful things God has in store for them there. Pray also for our director here, Pastor Phil Metzger, and his family, as Phil takes over pastoring that church, in addition to continuing to be the director here.  May God strengthen all of them in their new ministries and encourage them greatly.
