Wandering Walnuts

How, How, Wandering Walnuts!

On an evening under the waxing gibbous Cold moon, in the month of exchanging gifts, the Wandering Walnuts gathered in the tepee of Big Bear, Dancing Breeze, and Shining Sun.  Shining Sun marked the start of our third meeting with 12 beats on the tribal tom-tom.  The Wandering Walnuts raised their hands to the Great Spirit as Big Bear gave a tribal prayer, and they then formed the unbroken circle for the pledge and aims, led by our chief, Rainmaker.

The tribe then shared their birth names and tribal names.  Next, each princess took her turn with the talking stick and described how she helped Dad do chores.  Carolina Maple earned her turquoise feather for saying the pledge on her own.  Bouncy Bunny, Tigerlily, and Brown-eyed Doe earned their orange feathers for Mom's night off.  Carolina Maple and Singing River earned their blue feathers for reciting the six aims.  Shooting Star, Shining Sun, Dancing Breeze, and Rain Dancer earned their red feathers for reciting the tribal and real names.

Big Bear, Dancing Breeze, and Shining Sun led the princesses to the tepee craft center where they decorated Christmas wreaths.  Afterwards, everyone had a Rice Krispy and pretzel tepee to satisfy their hunger.

The tribe closed their meeting with a prayer to the Great Spirit, and the Wandering Walnuts scattered like squirrels for nuts for their tepees.
