Steve IM me around
beginning of November about playing WoW, so I waited with much anticipation on which server he is going start at. I
invited him to Suramar (PST PvE) but the 4 hours time difference was way too much. Finally after fiddling around for
couple of weeks, he chose Archimonde (CST PvP) since his sister Susan is on there with a fairly well organized Horde guild
called Glacial Tide. This was fine with me since I mainly want to see if I can game with Steve and the kids.
Playing on the Horde side is a totally
new experience for me since I have mostly been playing Alliance on Suramar. Plus I was on a PvE environment where you
can don't really compete against the Horde side unless you change your status to do PvP (Player vs Player) and then you can
battle the Hordes. In fact most of my pvp has been restricted to the Battleground evironment, you can freely travel
the outside world doing quests without worrying about someone jumping you. On Archimonde, you have to watch where you treaded.
As long as you are within your own side's territory, you are pretty safe.
I started up as a Troll Priest(Landru)
in the start area and level up fairly quickly in Durotar. The first 10 levels took me around one week since
I have done most of these quest while I was experimenting with Horde characters on Stormrage (EST PvE) where Greg and his
kids played. I then switch over to level up the Troll Mage(BankofOrg) which I planned to use as the AuctionHouse/Bank
character. At this point Landru was set up with mainly the gathering skill of mining/herbalism, just to maximize the
money making potential. I also set up BankofOrg with Tailoring/Enchanting just to allow me to start making the bags
and for disenchanting any green items that didn't sell in the Auction House. I did most of the Durotar quests and
then head into Mulgore to do the mid level ones, this mainly to gain reputation with the Taurens.
My main Landru finally finished off
all the low level quests and made it to Orgrimmar, the Horde capital. He was level 11 at this point and got invited
by a PUG (pick up group) to go explore the instance known as Ragefire Chasm. The group I was with have a level 20 Warrior,
level 17 Druid(Feral) and a level 18 Rogue. This meant I was the lowbie and most of my spells bounced off the elite
mobs(monsters) within the instance. So I mainly hanged back while keeping the other members alive. This was fairly
new to me since I had played Warrior and usually charge right into the mob.
I was researching on Tentonhammer website and saw the recommendation on questing in the undead start area, mainly to get your reputation up to at least Friendly(it
started on Neutral). So I hopped on the Airship to get to the UnderCity and started exploring and questing in Tirisfal
Glades and Silverspine Forest. I finished off all the quests except for the Elite ones and got my reputation to Friendly
status. At this point, Landru was around level 15 and some of the delivery quests were pointing me back toward
Orgrimmar. I went back to Orgrimmar and then into The Barrens where most of my quests are located.
I have previously finished off some
of the quests in the Barren using the Tauren Hunter Aaronsen on Stormrage, so most of the locations were fairly familiar to
me. In a way, The Barren is very similar to Westfall, all the quests are spreaded out and you ended up running all over
the places. There is also the Wailing Cavern instance just west of Crossroad, again similar to the Deadmines in Westfall.
Fortunately, there are flight master at Camp Taurjo and Ratchet, which helps cut down some of the running.
One thing I found out, life as a Priest
is very exciting, everyone love to group with you for quests. In fact I have to turned down many requests just because
I was limited in playing time. I only get to go online when the kids are asleep and that usually meant no
more than couple hours at best at night. Running an instance usually required more than couple of hours, much more time
than I can afforded. If I was in the general area though, I usually was more than happy to help out, this probably meant
I was added to quit a few Friend List.
At this point, I also managed to log in while
Susan was online and she promptly added me to Glacial Tide. While I was questing, I continued to monitor the Guild Chat
and found that these guildees are pretty active in running the higher instances like MC, ZG and AQ20. Most of them are
already at level 60, so I am probably the only lowbie except for Steve and the kids. It will be very interesting once
I reach level 60 to raid with them.
