Robert5 Arthur (Clara4 Frances McDougall, Eliza3 Ann Farrington, Serenus2, Thomas1 Sewall), an Army Officer, b. Feb 4, 1886 at Webster, Day Cty., So. Dakota. He m'd Jan 26, 1909 at New Orleans, La. Sarah Abbie Fee, dau of Charles Baldwin and Laura Lane (Glover) Fee, b. Jan 22, 1890.

They had children:

  1. Robert6 Arthur b. Nov 10, 1909 at Ft. Mills, Corregidor Is. P.I., living 1938 at New York, N.Y. A.B., U. of Mich., 1930, A.M., 1933. Author and Editor. Member Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
  2. John6 Edwin Arthur b. Aug 22, 1914 at Ft. Monroe, Va., living 1938 at New York, N.Y. B.S. in Bus. Ad., Boston Univ., 1937. Member of Lambda Chi Farternity, of Skull, and of Scabbard and Blade. 2nd Lieut. Infantry Reserve.

Robert5 Arthur graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1907 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieut., Coast Artillery Corps. Served in P.I. and on Atlantic and Gulf Coasts. Was in the A.EF., France, from Aug 1917 to July 1917 and received the Distinguished Service Medal and the Croix de Guerre. Professor of Military Science at Univiversity of Michigan from 1919 to 1924 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1929 to 1935. Editor of Coast Artillery Journal from 1925 to 1929. B.S., U.S.M.A. and A.M., Harvard University. Author of The Coast Artillery School, 1824-1927; History of Fort Monroe; The Sieges of Yorktown; and The Coast Artillery R.O.T.C. Manual. Member of Royal Arch Masons, New England Genealogy Soc., Gen.Inst., Am. Soc. of Univ. Prof., Nat. Geog. Soc., and Am. Mil. Hist. Foundation.
