Family of James 2 and Elizabeth (Epps) Chute

James Chute, son of Lionel and Rose (Baker) Chute, was baptized at Dedham, Essex, 3 Feb. 1612/3, died at Rowley MA in the spring of 1691; married at Ipswich about 1647 Elizabeth Epps, born in Essex, England, say 1625, daughter of Daniel and Martha (Reade) Epps.

He came to Ipswich with his parents in 1634. He served the town as register of deeds, and as selectman in 1654, 1661, 1664 and 1678. In 1681 he settled at Rowley.
