I just wanted to add what The Great Migration Begins pp. 203 - 206 says about Richard BRACKETT. Richard, you may want to insert this information somewhere with the Anthony (1) BRACKETT info on your webpage, since I noticed that there is mention there about the possibility of four BRACKETT brothers etc.

According to GMB, Richard was the son of Peter and Rachel BRACKETT and was baptized at St. Gregory, Sudbury, Suffolk on 16 Sep 1610 [TAG 52:73]. His brother was Peter BRACKETT, who came to Braintree about 1636 [TAG 52:65-75,92]. About 1618 the mother Rachel remarried to Martin SANDERS. In 1635 SANDERS, his wife, their SANDERS children, along with Peter and Richard's sister Rachel (BRACKETT) NEWCOMB and her husband Francis NEWCOMB, and their children sailed for New England on "The Planter" [Hotten 48-49, TAG 55:215-217]. Richard BRACKETT had already come to Boston in 1632. He had travelled to England in 1633 for his marriage to Alice BLOWER, daughter of Thomas and Alice (FROST) BLOWER. That marriage took place on 6 Jan 1633/4 at St. Katherine by the Tower, London, England [NEHGR 127:17]. Richard and his wife then returned to New England in 1634. He moved to Braintree in 1641. Alice BLOWER was baptized in St. Gregory, Sudbury, Suffolk on 30 Jun 1615 [TAG 52:74].

It also says that Peter BRACKETT's wife Martha RAY was almost certainly a first cousin to Simon RAY, who came to Braintree.

So, we know that Richard and Peter were brothers and that they were not born in Scotland or Norfolk as has been suggested. I don't know if William and Anthony BRACKETT were really brothers of the other two men or not. I doubt it is true, or GMB would have mentioned it. At best it is unproven. But perhaps looking into Sudbury, Suffolk and surrounding parishes will yield some results on the origins of Anthony and William BRACKETT.

My husband is descended from Richard BRACKETT's daughter Hannah twice, once from each of her husbands -- Samuel KINGSLEY and John BLANCHARD. He also has a *probable* descent from Rachel (--) (BRACKETT) SANDERS through her daughter Rachel, who married John POULTER as her first husband.

Robert L. Ward added on 17 March 1997 to what Vickie wrote:

According to the article in TAG 52:65ff., Richard-1 and Peter-1 BRACKETT had no brothers. Furthermore, the parish register abstracts cited mention many William BRACKETTs, but no Anthony. Their origins will have to be sought elsewhere than in the vicinity of Sudbury, Suffolk.
