The American Revolution Walks program is sponsored by the Empire State Capital Volkssporters to support the American Volkssport Association and encourage walkers to learn the history of the American Revolution by walking sites of significance to the conflict.
 
OBJECTIVE: To walk and view sites of significance to the American Revolution.
 
ELIGIBILITY: Any fee paying participant in a designated American Revolution Walk event is eligible to earn credit towards the award. Events must be completed between April 1, 2004 and December 31, 2008.
 
CRITERIA: A sanctioned AVA event may qualify as an American Revolution Walk if the route goes by a site of significance to the American Revolution. Such sites would include battlefields, encampments, fortifications and other areas where activities took place directly related to the Revolution during the years 1773-1782. Going by a building may qualify a walk if a related activity took place there but not if it was  just the home or business place of a participant. Similarly, gravesites directly connected to, for example, a battlefield or hospital, would qualify a walk but simply having graves of veterans of the war would not.
 
A walk must be designated as an American Revolution Walk by the POC for the program. Clubs and individual walkers may not qualify a walk. However, if a walker completing a year round or seasonal event discovers information during the walk that would appear to qualify the walk, he/she may stamp an insert card and send the appropriate information to the POC. If it is determined that the walk qualifies, the stamps will be honored. Submit requests to the POC at  amrevwalks@earthlink.net. Qualified walks will be listed on this website.
 
PROCEDURE: After completing a designated walk, imprint the stamp in the book and write in the location. Insert cards may be used and attached to the book when submitted for the award. Handwritten entries are not acceptable. An event may be included only once.
 
Walk books may be purchased from the POC by sending a check for $8, payable to ESCV,to the address below. The price includes a patch which will be sent to the walker upon submission of a completed first book,with fifteen walks, or a pin for completing a second book.
BOOKS WILL NOT BE SOLD AFTER MARCH 31, 2008.

A SECOND AWARD IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR WALKERS WHO COMPLETE 30 WALKS. THE AWARD IS  A PIN SIGNIFYING THE PROGRAM AND NUMBER OF EVENTS. THE 1-1/4" GOLD AND ENAMEL PIN WILL MAKE A HANDSOME ACCESSORY TO YOUR PATCH. SO RE-ENLIST IN THE REVOLUTION!
 
NOTE: IF YOU ARE SENDING IN A SECOND BOOK FOR A PIN, PLEASE WRITE "BOOK II" ON THE FRONT SO THAT THE CORRECT AWARD WILL BE SENT TO YOU.
