In 1993 & 1994 musicianship wise the band was peaking. Following in true progressive rock format, this album "progressed" out of the Walls of Thebes and continued Amphions’ attempt to produce commercial music without losing its progressive edge. Thinking a little more along the heavy metal line, this album totally rocks! Pontius Pilate is the most commercial song of the album. No Cure plays into a metal theme, Cambrian Explosion is cerebral and Ludicrous Hippocrit, Resurrection, and The Wrath are linked in a mind boggling arrangement of progressive rock.

Damon Deemer wrote the songs and lyrics again on this one. Staskos percussion parts which he wrote, would be considered by many as monumental. Matthew Stasko also wrote the Lyrics for the track Cambrian Explosion. Greg Smart wrote his bass tracks and then laid down incredibly complimentary backing vocals. Smarts playing and writing on this project would even impress and confuse his idols and influences. Being that he plays his bass left-handed upside-down ! This album and The Walls of Thebes were another breakthrough for Progressive Rock. Prog Rock in a marketable commercial form. Only Bands like Rush, Pink Floyd, Yes and a few others have been able to accomplish this.

Any bands success depends entirely on the climate of the music industry and the ability of the band to “take it to the people”. After recording 3 albums in 3 years, Stasko and Smart decided to try a different direction for themselves. Smart returned home to Lancaster PA, and Stasko resumed his teaching career. AMPHION was lightning striking for these 3 musicians. The genuine commerodery and ease of collaboration can only be described as “once in a lifetime”.
