This is the main external site for the DOE Joint Genome Institute. I managed the 2008 redesign project. I also designed the user experience and did the HTML and CSS coding. A colleague did the graphic design work.

Advanced Light Source Institutional Site
This is the main external site for the Advanced Light Source at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. I was responsible for the site as project manager, editor, and web developer. The graphic design work was done by a colleague.

These are sample projects from an Interface Aesthetics class.
BORP Tandem Cycling
This was a group project for a course in computer-mediated communication. You can see some design mockups for our proposed site for organizing tandem bike rides.
PowerFall
A group project for a class in tangible user interfaces, this was a real-time, ambient energy monitoring system for a large apartment building.
Peter and the Wolf Storytelling Mixer
Another group project for the tangible user interfaces class, this one allows children to manipulate Prokofieff's classic score by playing with figurines depicting the characters from Peter and the Wolf.
Geneboree
A user interface design class project site for a wiki-based gene annotation system. We developed a prototype to run alongside the Integrated Microbial Genomes (IMG) system. Changes to the IMG system since the class have minimized the utility of the prototype, but the final design is captured on the project site.
