I touched bases with a friend of mine, Frank, on Friday and he said that he would be able to swing by on Monday and let me use his engine hoist. So I took a couple hours Saturday and Sunday, and spent it scrubbing down the engine compartment. It didn't clean up as good as I had hoped and I wouldn't have minded painting it, but this engine has to go in now.

Frank was his usual, fashionably late, but that was okay because it gave me some time to piddle and do some last minute things. My good friend and neighbor, Darrin, strolled up about the time Frank pulled in, and I was sure glad to see him. If I need some muscle, I call him. In no time at all we were set up, and pulling the engine off the stand for the last time. That sure was a good feeling.
Frank had to take off and go finish buffing out a customers car, so he just left the hoist with me. All the better for me, because now I could take my time, and get it right. After a whole lot of pushin', pullin', pryin', and prayin', we had it ready for final descent.

After a bit of jacking on the transmission and hoisting on the engine, I was able to get the two matched up and bolted together.

There's no place like home!

With the weather forecast being on the iffy side, I decided to go ahead and put the hood back on. I had lost the daylight by then, and my stomach was rumbling so I figured I'd get a fresh start on the headers in the morning.
