Founded in 1993 and based in Southern California, the Amblefolke Street Actors GuildTM is a group of people who like to dress in costume and have fun entertaining and interacting with people. We are a mixed group of characters, much like a traveling bards group of Renaissance times. We come from all nationalities and walks of life, and we are banded together for mutual protection and benefit.
We are a family-oriented group and we do not allow drinking or drugs in our encampment. Our goal is to interact with guests at Renaissance faires on a one-on-one basis, to engage them in banter and play, to enhance their enjoyment and pleasure while at the same time educating them about Renaissance history.
We engage in skits, either singly or in groups,
we talk with the public, and participate in parades. We have props of various
types, and some of us even juggle, play hand drums, or have various other talents.
We have a myriad of characters in our midst, and until recently, we even had a
strange little hairless war dog (who, unfortunately, is no longer with us—Rest In Peace DK).
Our encampment is the place at the faire where we come to rest and drink liquids. We may bring food to eat, or just sit down in the shade. The back of the encampment is where we keep our worldly possessions, and someone is always there to make sure that they are safe.
