The American Legion (Veterans)

If you are on active duty today, or have served during any eligible war eras listed, you are eligible to become a Legionnaire.

 

Eligibility Dates:

 

World War I:  April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918

World War II:  December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946

Korean War:  June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955

Vietnam War:  February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975

Lebanon/Grenada:  August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984

Panama:  December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990

Gulf War:   August 2, 1990 to the present

American Legion Auxiliary

(Veteran’s Relative)

Any woman who is eligible for membership in The American Legion is also eligible to join the American Legion Auxiliary.

 

The mother, wife, daughter, sister, grand-daughter, great-grand-daughter, or grandmother of members of The American Legion, and deceased veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during the listed war eras.  Step-relatives are also eligible.

SAL - Sons Of The American Legion (Veteran’s Relative)

To be eligible, you must be a male descendant (including stepsons and adopted sons) of a member of The American Legion.

 

You are the male descendant (including stepsons and adopted sons) of a veteran who died in service during one of the dates indicated above, or if you are the male descendant (including stepsons and adopted sons) of a veteran who died subsequent to his or her honorable discharge from service during one of the dates indicated above, you are also eligible to join the SAL.
