Mt Hood (11,200') - April 9, 2005

Mt Hood is the highest point in Oregon. These photos are from the Southside (Hogsback) Route. The route is approximately 3 miles long, with an elevation gain of 5,200'.

Ascent by George Naxera and Dave Ireland.

The first 2 miles are an easy snowshoe hike from 6000' to 10,000' elevation.

The route follows the Hogsback up through the Pearly Gates to the summit crater rim.

The terrain gets a little steeper around 10,000'.
