I was born and raised in Rockaway Beach, New York.  I attended St. Francis De Sales and Regis High School ('92) in New York and Fairfield University in Connecticut ('96).  In grammar school and high school, I played baseball and basketball before a shoulder injury "forced" me to give up a "guaranteed" professional baseball career.

At Fairfield University, I majored in politics while double minoring in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Faith, Peace, and Justice Studies.  I played intramural softball and basketball, was a Mission Volunteer in Kingston Jamaica, and worked food services (for which my housemates still owe me).

In 1999, I moved to Tallahassee, Florida to attend graduate school in political science at Florida State University.  I played a number of seasons for the now defunct department softball team.

In 2001, I taught on the Florida State Summer Program in San José, Costa Rica.  In Costa Rica, I began dating my wife whom I had known from Fairfield ('97), but was working in Costa Rica with the Peace Corps.  My older brother Bobby took time off from work and his triathlon training to visit in Costa Rica.

Marie and I married in a beautiful ceremony on August 20, 2004 at St. Mary's Church in Dedham, Massachusetts. Marie is currently the Director of Continuing Education at Johnson College.  We live in South Abington Township, PA with our two children.

My entire family still lives in New York and New Jersey.  Bobby and family recently relocated to New Jersey.  My dad lives in Long Branch, NJ.  My mom and aunt still live in Rockaway Beach.
