How to Start a Character

Feh, auctions. Auctions take forever in an on-line game. They kill the momentum. Won't be having none of that claptrap here, nosirree.

So, to make a character:

Step 1: Send me (me being at albasch@earthlink.net) a name, preferably one that can be pronounced and is either short enough to use in casual conversation, or lends itself to a short nickname ("Malcolm" is better, in my opinion, than "V'rkkz'ee", "Ffllewffallian" or "Azraphalianiaphan").

Step 2: Describe your character's parentage, or other strong connection to Amber, its people and its institutions. Please refrain from picking Oberon, Dworkin, the Unicorn or Jesus as a parent.

Step 3: Briefly outline your character's background. I know that you'll probably have dozens of pages of material in mind, but at the start of the game I just don't have time to read dozens of pages for every character. Rest assured that there will be time to get into all the details later.

Step 4: List the attributes, powers or items that are your highest priority for the character, from one to ten, with one being highest priority and ten being lowest. Feel free (in fact, I encourage you!) to mention the same attribute more than once.  For instance, if you'd really like a high Warfare then list Warfare in priorities one through four. Take a careful look at the Attributes section of the house rules before you decide to scorn any particular Attribute though... they are not as they are in other games. Please note that unless I am told otherwise you are assumed to have Basic Pattern and to be of the bloodlines of Oberon. If you want something way different, this would be the time to mention it.

All of those steps can be combined in one email if you so desire. Once we're agreed on this rough draft I will send out a first post to get your character active in the game world, and we'll sort out the rest (Restrictions, Shadow resources, etc) through the early course of play.
