Michelle was born in Managua, Nicaragua (that’s in Central America, not Mexico, but she does speak Spanish fluently). Her family left Nicaragua when she was five years old because, although they had lived a very wealthy, upper class lifestyle, all that changed when the governmental structure became communistic. They relocated to Miami, FL and had to start from the bottom and work their way back up. Going from High Class Rich, to dirt poor Americans gave Michelle an appreciation of having it all and then losing it all. Nine months later they moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and have been here ever since. Michelle has played sports all her life, mainly soccer, but enjoys playing baseball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and many others. She has a Black Belt in Shorin-Ji Ryu Karate and is in the World Karate Union Hall of Fame. She studied Karate for seven years and taught it for five of those seven years. She credits her Karate training for helping shape the person she has become. In September of 2006, Michelle moved back into her parent’s home to help care for them. Her parents are getting older and having to deal with some of aging’s common ailments. Michelle has been a great help, not only to her parents, but to her younger brother as well. Her little brother is 12 years old and has no one in the house his age with whom he can talk and spend time, so Michelle’s presence is good for all of them. Michelle got into
music at the tender age of three when her father taught her to play the
piano and guitar. She also plays the harmonica, the drums and all
the brass instruments. Her musical skills made her a natural
choice for Alan Ross to ask her to join our family.
Additionally, Michelle is a Christian with a renewed sense of faith and eagerly embraces the joys of life and the people in her life. She also enjoys photography and writing poetry. To learn more about Michelle, you can check out her profile on My Space at www.myspace.com/ykw.
