About Chemical Marketing Services Chemical Marketing Services (CMS) was established in 1999 by Alan Peterkofsky. Alan has more than 35 years of experience in the chemical industry, with a record of business success based on comprehensive knowledge of specialty chemical technology and domestic and global markets. From 1990 through 1999, he was the North American Business Director for Rhone-Poulenc's (now Rhodia) emulsion polymerization surfactants business. In this capacity, he had full P&L responsibility, administered a multimillion-dollar budget and grew sales at twice the industry growth rate. Under Alan's supervision, the business became the technical and market leader in North America, and the most profitable business unit in the company. Building on the business success in North America, he developed and implemented successful global strategies for Rhodia's emulsion polymerization surfactant businesses in Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. With degrees in chemistry and an MBA, Alan's combination of technical knowledge and business skills give CMS special expertise in the successful commercialization of profitable new specialty chemical products based on strong, in-depth analysis of market opportunities. Alan's experience as a senior business executive with one of the world's largest international chemical companies gives CMS a particularly strong understanding of global markets, with special expertise in European specialty chemical markets. The business and strategic planning capabilities Alan brings to CMS were developed as Commercial Development Manager for W.R. Grace. He planned, initiated and developed a number of business ventures based on the identification of new commercial opportunities for Grace technology. Among his major projects were: biocatalytic processes for specialty chemicals, specialty nitroparaffin derivatives and specialty admixtures for concrete. Alan also led the team that developed and wrote the strategic plan for Grace's Research Division. Alan has excellent written and oral presentation skills. He has designed, developed and delivered many presentations to senior management, key customers and industry groups. He has published articles in industry publications and has written technical literature for many products. Alan is also the author of four U.S. patents.
